Well Dennis, you screwed up!
We went waaaay back in the National Forrest and found a Bass pond. Plans were made for a future hunt/fish/camp trip.
We cooked a lunch (sort of) and shot marks all day.
Jim Cowles quiver broke, and dumped arrows everywhere.
I had to string his bow for him, and the poor old fella had a Hell of a time trying to boil a cup of tea with a stove some guy gave him??
Tim went in disguise dressed as me---I assume to mislead the cops.
Jim's new hat was his excuse for missing----he said the bowstring hit the brim.
Mainly, we had a lot of fun!!
John French took some pictures

Boy , oh boy, where to start. Until French gets off his Harley and posts the pictures, we'll have to go with the written word. Nice piece of real estate for sure. Nice pond on it. Most of the bigger ponds in HNF hold bass and nice blue gills. Camping next to the pond during squirrel season would almost guarantee food. I've got the coordinates marked down so should not be a problem to find again.
The cemetery was like going to a homecoming, I knew a lot of folks there. Guess that happens as you age.We saw at least 2 ladder stands still out in the woods from deer season. Illegal as hell, plus they drove nails into the trees to make a shooting rail.
Jim decided white flu flus would be a good idea to use where the snow still lies. Maybe not the best decision. The French shot one of his arrows as it lay defenseless. Maybe not a good day to be Jim. Jay Mellencamp went along and I think had fun. Said it was the first time he had shot something other than squirrels in years. Jay still tugs on a 65 # bow ! He's got me by 12 years at least and I can't pull that weight.
