I need to get a pair of boots that will keep my feet warm. I'd like to say money is no object but it is. I'd prefer some rubber boots as I do cross creeks a lot where I hunt. I've tried plain rubber boots with extra socks and the result is less than desired. I'll need something with insulation and something I can add heavy socks to. Camo or not does not matter. Thoughts ?

They are a bit pricey, but I got the side zip which is a bit more... about 20.00 or so... the sizing is vital... the first I ordered from Chick's before they went out of business was my regular size of 10's... way to tight... had to go to 11's for the proper fit...
Bass Pro carried some of the Lacrosse boots at one time, but I'd definately try before buying as the fit is critical... too tight and you'll never stay warm...
I like muckers, they are plenty warm enough while walking, just add pull on boot blankets if you get still, like in the stand. Most comfortable rubber boot i ever wore.
I have been wearing the bass pro Bone Dry 600gram thinsulate boot for years feet never get cold & not too costly $ He's right dont get too tight kind loose fitting boot to stay warm anything over 600 grams is a waste around here warm is warm just my 2 cents !! !!
If you want the most economic boots get the Muck boots. They are very comfortable and waterproof. I wore mine this early season when it was hot , and they weren't too bad. They are pretty good in cold weather. If you got those hot mocks or boot blankets they would probably keep you warm in anything.
I bought merino wool socks and they make the mucks good for a huge range of temps. They don't cost too much and they are good for walking in.
If you plan to hunt in below 0 temps then you might need more expensive boots if your gonna sit still.
Mucks are great to walk in, keep your feet warm in reasonable temps, you can wear them in august sq hunting, great 3-D boots, and they are real easy to get on and off.
If your gonna get some be sure to try them on first. When I got mine I had to get a different size than I normally wear.
Buy a pair of[ artic sheild ]boot covers, you can wear tennis shoes if you want. if it is real cold put body warmers inside of covers and your feet will not get cold. their light weight and pack easy, i use my mine when its cold and my feet never run me out of the woods.
BASS PRO-40 to 50 dollars. GREAT investment.

Yep, the Booties in their different configurations won't work for me. I don't go into trees much anymore.So this means I need a boot for walking and for standing or sitting for extended periods. I need to get some new socks anyway and will take them with me to the store(s) to try on the boots. I just can't take the cold anymore and it has affected how long I stay afield. My new business is doing well and I decided to reward myself with some new goodies. I have long admired the Hycreek ads on the back of the Backwoodsman magazine and today called them and ordered their extreme cold laying system. By layering I should be able to use it through all the different seasons we have . They shipped today so I'm looking forward to getting it.

Tim, I used to carry an extra pair of the outer-heavy socks (I always use liner socks) and when my feet got cold, I would simply change socks. Made a world of difference.
felt the same way until 89, bought my sheilds and have never been forced to leave the woods because of cold feet since.Takes all of a minute to put on,i have worn mine more sitting on the ground than in a stand. Any insulated, waterproof boot is good for walking in and out , in my opinion.

Thats me, it doesn't take much to keep my feet warm walking, as long as they stay dry, but sit for very long they get cold. The Muck boots do great at walking, even in snow, and they aren't so thickly insulated that my feet sweat walking. Sweaty feet are about the same as wading the creek in leather, same result, wet feet that will get cold when you get still. If you walk very far to you're stand, like I often do, these are the best.
Well I happened to drop by the local Orscheln Farm Store last night on my way to the gym (yes, gym, wife bought me a membership for Xmas, whole 'nother story) and they had advertised big sale on boots and socks. Mostly just leather boots and rubber farm boots but they did have a few pair of Mucks left from Christmas. I grabbed a few pair of wool socks (nicely priced) and sat down and started trying on various Muck boots. Settled on a pair. Maybe I'll get to try them this Sunday. BTW on the topic of liner socks. You'll see high end poly pro sock liners listed here and there. Just go to Wally World, Target, what have you and buy men's dress socks. The thin, synthetic ones. Cheap. You'll even find some made from poly pro if you are just hung up on it. The important thing is the synthetics wick the moisture away from your feet and deposit it into your heavier outer socks.

Bought a pair of the Muck Chore boots in black last year and have yet to have my feet get wet or cold. Just wear some good warm socks with them. Very easy to slip on and off and comfy to walk in. They fit good to your ankle and calves and don't slap around like most rubber type boots do.
I m tryin to leave here in the am!!! it is cold!!!!!!!-30 temp and dont wanna know the windchill!!it will feel like summer time in indiana !! gonna wear my sandles and shorts to the shoot!! any body got any sunblock i can barrow?
