The stone walls are from the first Texas ranger's fort in Texas. Jose' and I were down there hunting. Which fish? the one in the boat is a 14lb largemouth--yes, from when I guided down in Florida. The other is a Buffalo shot with a bow in White river in Indiana. Estimated 40+lbs

My Lord ! I thought that was some picture of an Iraqi bride with her veil waiting for her groom. But then again some of them have a more facial hair.

John is that the place in Tex called Adobe walls ?
No, it wasn't Adobe Walls. I don't remember the name of the little town, but we were out on a ranch a good ways. I remember the town had a very small Mexican resturant with excellent food, and a cowboy bar with a sign that advertised "the Almost Patsy Cline" band as playing that Saturday night. Maybe Jose' can recall the town. I know we ended up the next week hunting Hogs on the Legal Eagle ranch in El Indio, TX which was right on the border.

The town name is Banderas, TX. Pretty, little Texas town. Here are some pictures.
The ruins are from the house of Policarpio Rodriguez, aka Poli, a brave and adventurous mexican native who fought the Comanches and established himself there. The house ruins are known as the Fort. Later on he joined the TX Rangers and ended up being an ordained Methodist preacher. You may be able to read some of his biography on the plaque in front of the small church he built. The church is located just outside of the ranch where we stayed.
I'd love to go back there, if nothingelse, to eat at the Jacalito again. Best tamales on the planet.
Ooops, I missed Paul Jalon pictures. There is Paul with his friend from MI. A retired engineer from GM. I forgot his name. The other fellow is José. He lives to hunt. I do not know where he gets his money, but the guy has been all over hunting. I think he lives in Laredo.
Texas is a whole other country. I'd move down there in a NY minute, but the wife will not do it.
Jonathan, that was a Merkel 47E. Shortly after that I traded it for a Browning sidelock SxS with two sets of barrels. I now shoot an old original Ithaca grade 2 SxS 16ga, and a Browning grade 3 O/U (with grade 6 wood) in 16ga. I have owned and traded MANY high-grade shotguns. Was in the gun bid-nuss once.
