Question for you in the know...

I have an old Elburg Jaguar 66" 59#@29". The bow was made for Ron Tucker and Bill Rideout traded for it at the first KY Klassic many years ago. Bill left the bow to me when he died.

In two different occasions now I have strung the bow and put it down for a while before shooting. When I came back to shoot I have found the bow unstrung! This second time I looked at the tip of the upper limb, the upper limb is the culprit, and saw two things: the string groove across the back of the bow is very shallow (Harry made very skinny FF strings) and the string loop was sort of "swollen" from loosing wax and the trauma of stringing/unstringing over that spot.

Have you ever heard of bows unstringing on their own? I have had no problems shooting it. When I hang the bow it has not happened, yet, only when I lay it down.

What do you boys think?

God bless,

Jose

Any ideas? C'mon guys...

PS I will probably take a file and deepen that groove across the back of the bow or stay with skinny strings which seem to be the rage these days.

Ok. I'll take a shot. I would get a a new string if the other looks like the loops are frayed. Also make sure you have the correct brace height. Sometimes too low a brace does weird things. Another option is to come to the next shoot and ask Mr. Tucker if he ever had the same problem with it. DEN

Jose, I've seen that when the loops were too big. They tend to open up and sort of "roll" out of the nocks.Sounds like you need a new Ron Nixe Super String !

Jose':
I only owned one bow that did that. It was built for an extremely short draw, and when I hit 281/2", the top string would pop out of the grooves. Strange feeling!

Thank you guys.

I think I will be getting a new string from Ron. It will not be until may when I get back from Maine.

Stay healthy.

God bless,

Jose
