I think these would work for George W. Sears

The Trinity of Cutting Tools
George Sears, aka "Nessmuk", was a minimalist when it came to camping and canoeing. What he called his Trinity of tools was a good folder, a small axe and a stout hunting knife. The hunting knife is a pretty close copy to his from all I could gather from his writings and drawings. I made it from a saw blade that Catfishon gave me. The axe head I bought at the CLA show this past Summer and went from there. The folder is my old Schrade. I think George would approve.

Tim,

With the note you sent before the election and the the way the economy is going are you trying to tell us something? Getting your stuff ready. Will we soon be saying where's Tim?smile

Cool stuff!

Steve

PS: I having been converting a percussion Tennessee Mountain rifle back to a flintlock (shot it twice yesterday). I've made a couple of knives and a new longbow. Maybe I'm going the same way.

Here's my interpretation. I've often thought of you as a modern day Nessmuk. I suppose you could be Wussmuksmile

Steve so good to hear from you. Are you gonna shoot Chicks? Can't wait to get together and shoot again. I've made a special target bow that I'm gonna use down there. I'll try to get pictures up later. Here's a hint though, it's named "McKnightmare"biggrin I'm gonna be drinking free root beers every Thursdaybiggrin DEN

Jose it's one of them things that you hold against your front teeth and pluck the spring and it goes Sploinnggggg. I was looking for a nice pocket knife in my undie drawer and came across it. It looked primative so I threw it in the picture. I thought that was something all of our Ky. brothers knew about.aww DEN

Dennis, I guess if you were ever to get lost in a Pizza Hut that one tool would be handy. I've never gotten lost in a tobacco patch either so see no need to carry a bakker cutter.BTW Dennis, those blades French is using for knives really need to be annealed, worked, and rehardened. They are way too brittle as is. You can grind them OK as is if you keep them cool but they are too brittle. Will break like glass if you pry with them.( as in cutting thru a pelvis bone or such) Found that out while working on my knife. It's been drawn down , worked and rehardened to have a bit more "give" to it.

Dennis,

I do plan on shooting at Chicks. I'm getting cabin fever from being home so much. Kids are starting to poke fun when they walk by and say " Thats where ole' man Redden lives". I need to get out in the real world, some.

Steve

The knife on the bottom of your picture was used for centuries by the Eskimo people. The unique Ulu design was inspired by the natural formation of the slate that was originally used to shape this unique knife. aww
