I'm passing this along from a fellow bow hunter in Northern Indiana.
The city of Knox, in Northern Indiana, between Valparaiso and Warsaw, appear to attempting a vote to outlaw all hunting inside city limits, its been rumored that the plan actually includes an area two miles outside the actual corporate city limits just to be safe.
While we can certainly understand limiting the discharge of firearms, no consideration seems to be taken towards bow hunting in this rural area.
The vote is supposed to take place tomorrow (Tues 10/28/08) at the City Council Hall.
All interested parties are asked to attend, in at least an effort to sway the board to postpone the vote until the issue can be fully understood and an educated decision can be considered.
Dan, you'll find that a city that still allows hunting inside it's limits is the exception not the norm. Probably the city attorney noticed that they had nothing down on the books about it and they are playing catch-up. I know Seymour has had a law on the books for decades concerning hunting inside the city lines. Discharging ANY weapon, including bows is also illegal. The local police do at times turn a blind eye on shooting bows though.
