My fist shoot

First let me say that I am not an official member yet.  I will pay my dues at the next shoot.

Last Saturday was my first 3d shoot with my recurve.  I'm a newbie to traditional and shoots.

I had a blast and shot with a fun bunch of guys.  Thanks Trevor, Bill, Richard, Ron and James for helping me through the course and teaching me how to keep score.  I hope I got everyone's name right.  I came home with all of my arrows.  I passed on Elvis.  Next time I will have a special arrow for him.

Neal and Doyle gave me a flint knapping demo.  They were even nice enough to let me bust some rocks.  That was cool.  I bled some.  Knapping really is an art, isn't it?

Kevin let me shoot one of his self bows.  They are so light and quiet.

Another fellow (I'm sorry I can't remember your name) asked me to try his 3-piece TD longbow he made.  He is a pastor in the Bloomington area, if my terrible memory serves me.  It was a very nice bow.  Long bows are neat but I need to master my recurve first.

All in all it was a great time.  Next time I will bring my son with me.  He is 6.  My buddy and his son, also 6, are going to try to make some shoots when he doesn't have to work (my buddy, not the 6 year old).

I intentionally shot a low score that I can improve upon.  It was hard, but I swallowed my pride and got er done.

I'm practicing for the next shoot.  I planted a tree in front of my target butt and have incorporated some new yoga poses into my form.  Come on guys.  I don't mind kneeling but I never nail one foot to the ground and do the splits when I hunt.  Never.  I have been practicing this in the back yard.  The neighbors were already worried about me.  Now they are sure my cheese has slipped off my cracker.

Last night I video taped my form.  I could see them peeking out of thier windows and shaking thier heads.

See ya at the next shoot.

This is Dennis. Hello. Some of us we're pig hunting, so we haven't met. You'll have a lot of good times at the shoots. I've been pourposily shooting low scores for years up there so as not to embarras Tim and John. Be careful shooting self bows, it's easy to catch the madness that a few of us have. HA. See you next time. DEN
