Talk about your wind!!

Man, is it blowing here! I went squirrel hunting early, and we just had a Texas breeze, but the front came through about 10AM, and it is flat getting with it! It took some shingles off my back porch roof, held the barn door closed so I can't open it, and trimmed my trees for me. Power was out in the county for over an hour. This year seems just plain weird to me...weirdface.gif

John, that was a dang Hoosier hurricane.

Ronald came by to drink coffee early this morning. I mentioned Friendship was going on, and he said lets go. I said ok I'll drive. That proved to be a good move on my part. We wen't up and looked around and it was a pretty windy time. I kept watching the sky for rain but it stayed dry. About 1:00 in the afternoon the wind really kicked up. It was kinda fun watchin all that junk getting blown around. We decided to go find Tim and see if he had anything good to eat. We had just entered the primative area when the wind started screamin. Just then my wife called. The phone was breaking up but I made out the words storm and basement. I told Ron that we gotta go now. He said ok but he has to use the bathroom first. Funny thing though all the portas were layin on their sides. We took off as all hell was breakin loose.

It took at least 3hr for us to get home. We saw houses cut in half by big trees. Had to turn around some by blocked roads. Drove thru a corn stalk blizzard. Came over a hill and the whole side of the road was on fire from downed wires. Interstate 65 was even jammed up with down wires. I must have seen 500 houses with shingles tore off. No signals were working anywhere and most people were standing outside looking at the damage on their houses.

We just got our elec back a little while ago.  Let me see if I can get Debra to do a picture for me.

Ronald's truck is still stuck in my yard. We have to wait for, whoever to come cut the tree off the wires so he can get it out.

Let me ask. That dosen't look like my fault does it? I never told him to park there.biggrin  I think he was negligent somehow.biggrin

Boys, got back from the 'Ship this afternoon. Last Sunday was a sreamer wasn't it ? Power went off Sunday about 2pm, and came back on Monday night. No problems, just cooked in the Dutch Oven. Monday's menu was roast deer ham with taters and carrots and onions. Mmmm!. I think every flea market vendor over there lost his tarps and such. Our camper awning held fine but several were destroyed. Did have one casualty in the Primitive area. Big maple tipped out and came down on a tent. Lady inside suffered broken ankle and leg.She had surgery on Tues and was back down on Friday.Them mountain women are tough.Shot well , finished 3rd in the Valley Flintlock Aggregate and some 3rds in individual stuff.
Was walking past a booth on Commercial Row Saturday morning with Grandson Jack and spied this neat little gun layed out. 1880's Belgium shotgun made for a kid in 32 guage. It's solid and just needs some TLC which has started.Jack was grinnin' like a mule eatin' saw briars walking around carrying that thing.
