+This is Dennis. I finally got my things dried out and put away. It was well worth the work. We set up camp at the corner of Fred Bear and Art Young roads. It was a perfect spot. It was right on the west edge of of the ridge, right above the lake. With all the big trees it was hard to see off in the distance but the place had the feel of high ground. West is also where we get a lot of our weather from. By evening the spots around us started filling up. My nextdoor neighbor was Catfish. Most of the evening was spent hangin around, talking, and eating. There was quite a bit of shootin going on too. Jim and them had a 15 target range set. I finally got to sleep around midnight and the last thing I remember hearing was Cat saying that he wished Sat. wouldn't be so hot. That's why I'm blaming him for what happened next. Grills ready. Gotta go.
Yumm that was good . We had our first garden mater. Any way I woke up with the birds Sat. morn. It was just getting light and looked like it was gonna be a great day. I started making coffee and looked over and saw one of them Illini. boys up and started hearin others stirring. That's when I noticed the distant, steady rumble. I new it wasn't thunder cause that ain't continuous. I thought it must have been Atturbury but remembered that was to the east and the sound I heard was west. We ate a quick breakfast and secured the camps and by that time it was on us. We fled up to the club house and stayed in there a while. It finally let up and we went down to to the shelter to work on bows. Then here comes round two. We jumped in Johns truck and raced back to the cabin. We had a good time up there hangin out. By 9: or so it was all over. We had a great day bow jammin. Lots of fun with old friends and new ones too. By the end of the day we were all tired and settin around and started hearin that ole famillier rumble. John was lookin at his cell phone and says Oh NO. He somehow has the radar dialed up on it. He shows it to me and everything to the west is red We decided real fast to make a run for it. We tore down our camps in record time. So were the others. By the time we were loaded it was right on top of us. It was one of the most fun times even though it was cut a little short. Thanks to Chris and all who put it on. I hope to make it next time. DEN
Guys, I think we had a great event despite the rain, but I think it did limit turnout a bunch. I sure was glad that clubhouse was there Saturday night, I think it would have been a miserable night in a tent. I had a great time, will be back next year. Chris still has some shirts and hats for anyone who wants one I think. See ya'll this Sasturday at our club. Bryan

Eeyup I still have 9 hats ( they are pretty well made not cheapos, realtree hardwoods grey)12$ shipped. I also have 4 XL shirts, and 2 larges, 15$ shipped. Ya'll let me know ifn ya wanna purchase one. I sure do appreciate ya'll coming up and hangin out with us. I sorta missed out on the catching up part . It seemed like I couldn't get away from the dern cabin. We are gonna set it up a little different next year and have the check in at one of the shelter houses, I think. Or possibly have folks camp closer to the cabin instead of down the road so far. We are talking about building a shelter house there just up hill from the cabin. With electricity and lights, that would help with the late night bow scrapin! We had a total of 40 folks show up and thats nearly twice as much as the first one so technically its growing. Hopefully it'll be bigger yet next year. Thanks again guys for coming. Chris
Chris, I'll make my request early for the rain gods to hold out until after the event next year. I am already looking forward to coming back, we had a great time! Thanks, Bryan
