Ok guys if you would be so kind to bring all the tillerin trees and bowyer's benches you have on hand we'd greatly appreciate it. If we get a buncha folks there with minimal experience and tools we'll need something to put in their hands. Its also gonna be a good time to trade or sell all those extra rasps and scrapers you've been hordin all these years.
I'm gonna make up some benches with 4" vices on one end so there'll be something to hold the staves while workin on 'em.
Lemme know here if you can bring stuff and what it's gonna be.
Thanks
Chris

Ok lets try this again:

http://www.heartlandbowjam.info/

 Well shucks!!weirdface
I guess it'll have to do the way it is.

Took a long walk on the grounds of the conservation club today . Looks like a good place to hold this kind of event. There's two shelter houses along the ridge there above the lake, lotsa space for campsites in two different areas . Both of 'em are close to each other and fairly near the main cabin.
There's drinkable water at the steel building, which is between the cabin and the two shelters, running water/toilets in the cabin and porta johns at both shelterhouses.
One of the guys there today said he'd seen over 30 cars parked on the place for a shoot before so theres plenty of room for that many vehicles and a few more, I'm sure.We are also talkin' to the club to see if they'll let us set up a 20 target range for the weekend. I've gathered all the components to make a "running " 3-d target. Like they have at Mojam.Need a smallish 3-d target now. Maybe a javelina or a coyote.
I gotta admit I'm pretty excited.biggrin I'm in the processs of trackin down a guy that sells archery equipment to set up a booth  and sell his wares. I'll be talkin to some of the guys sellin down at Pappy's in Tenn. as well to see if they can attend.
 Gonna be a ball!!

Chris,
I would be able to set up there as well, I usually set up at the Scottsburg shoots and sell equipment. We own Smalltown sports, and are listed on this site under the vendors links. Dennis and a couple other guys asked me about setting up there for this. I think everyone is getting pumped! If you want to call me sometime, my cell number is 502-693-0996.
Thanks,
Bryan

Yeah , uh small world, Jim Critney just gave me your card yesterday.
We definitely would appreciate you setting up for the duration. He also said you might be able to bring a band saw and a generator? That would be cool. I'm lookin forward to meetin ya.

We are gonna need alternate sources of light back at the shelter houses once it gets dark. So ya'll need to bring all the Coleman blood trailing lanterns you've got stowed in your garages.

That's odd, I can't hot-link it either, I never have a problem linking to the newletters. I'll try some more.

Ha, did it - copy the url, highlight it and use the little chain deal, you'll figure it out from there.

The flyer looks really good. Jim and I talked to Paul at the shoot Sat. He is a very skilled bowyer and he says he might be able to make it. There seemed to be quite a bit of interest from others. DEN

Thanks for settn up the link, Dan.
Dennis, thats great. Tell him we'd be happy to have him. With you and Paul we may have some one there that actually knows how to make a bow!
I built a new picnic table yesterday for the club and may have enough material for another. Gotta have someplace to eat ya know.
Ya'll bring any spare 4" bench vices you have so we can mount them to the cable spool tables and benches we'll have there. Its mighty hard to work on a stave when it won't hold still.

Well fellas we have our first vendor on board. Bryan (deerstalker) has thrown his hat in the ring so he'll be there . He is trackin down another guy that also sells archery stuff that may come as well.

My wife is gonna set up a PDF file so I can e-mail the flyer out and ya'll can post 'em in your local deer and turkey check stations or whatever.

It was a ball, Dennis. I didn't work on a single bow the whole time I was there, other than givin unwanted advice . My elbow is boogered up. Had a good time anyway.
Handed out a buncha flyers so we'll see how many folks we get from my efforts.
Get the word out fellas.

Well, the Club has stepped up a bit and offered us all the firewood we can use for the evening fires. So theres no reason to bring any wood from home. In fact we ask that you don't bring any as that helps spread the emerald ash borer around. So wood will be provided for you free of charge.
We ARE gonna have a 3d range set up also, may have a full 20 target range, not sure, but will have at least 10.

Alright folks , we have someone lined up to make some t-shirts and hats to sell at the event. We aren't making any money its all going to the club to help cover the cost of the event.
Shirts will be $15 the hats will be $12.
Please let me know here if you are interested in buying one or both so I can order enough for everybody.
We also have a second vendor lined up as well.
Thanks,
Chris

I've been going through my wood supply getting staves together etc and I'm getting ready to sinew back an osage bow and might save it for the jamboree if it would have some demonstration benefit for anyone interested. just let me know.
Thanks, Tracy

I know it's early but I just checked the weather and it looks good at this point. The next frontal system should move through the middle of next week. Looks like lows in the 60s and highs in the 80s. DEN

Perfect weather for such an event, Dennis. I'm gonna get the signs out tomorrow afternoon so maybe we can get some more local interest as well as the folks that have found out about it by the internet. I'll see ya'll in a coupla days. Lookin forward to meeting folks I haven't yet met and seeing those I have, again.
