need ideas

I am making a spear for 3D (I figure there must be some "spear chucker " blood in my family) but I don't want to mess up the $ targets. Should I "foot" the thing with a detachable target shaft, or just stump shoot while you guys work the targets? Been thinking of tapering it down enough to accept a rubber point.weirdface

John how about an atatl arrow ? You could use a heavy field point, about 5' shaft (the cane at Lowes and HD works and comes that long) and some big feathers. Should throw good.

John, I would look at getting a carbon fiber ski pole. They are more consitant, straighter, more durable, and better in general than most spear materials.

As a matter of fact if they had been around in the old days, we would probably be speaking Neanderbiggrin

Just kidding. I was seeing if Randy was home from church yet.

You know we can probably make you some kind of brace where you can shoot one handed. With the Dr's OK of course. DEN.

P.S. When you were in the army, did you kill any Germans?biggrin

Weren't any germans back then....

What I need is a target point that fits a 1/2" Ramin shaft.
Been thinking about a piece of pipe mashed and ground.

Go buy the fattest alum. shaft they sell. have them cut it in 2 or 3 inch sections. add inserts and screw on points. Wittle your .5" ramin dowell down and glue shaft sections on. Or I could make you some brass points that would glue directly on. I don't know how heavy they would be, or if I could get them done by next shoot. Or just wittle a point and fire harden. Which arm is injured. DEN

Bambi, the carbon ski poles do make more consistant, durable, cheaper atlatls. the woodland indians used them long before wood was available,.......

I'm a pretty good trapper. Can I score points by mashing the targets with a deadfall? (Minus points for mashing the target setter?)evileye
