Shootin' Broadheads?

Well, anybody practicing with broadheads yet? I set my target up and started shooting the hunting rig with broadheads a couple days ago.  20 or 30 shots into the foam each evening....the groups are getting smaller.biggrin

We had a great time and got to meet some fine Montana folks. Through a friend of a friend we got to stay in a cabin owned by a family in eastern Montana that gets 4000$/ hunter /week for nothin'! Problem was the pronghorns weren't there in any numbers and too much water. Ground was wrong for stalking too. Too flat. Stayed there 2 days and went back to the first place where the stalking was good.
Lemme tell ya if you want a stalking challenge prong's is it! They are worse than turkeys! I never got closer than 40 yards from one and thats with 13 to 15 ( lost track) stalks and any number of " wait in the gully, hope they run by while yer buddy walks a fence row trying to look like the rancher" sits. We did get some close calls though and everyone got at least one shot . The fellers I was with both shot over the same buck at 40 yards on different days.(Trad shooters too)
Watched a buck bed down in a little cut with two does. He was in a perfect stalking place , two small hills on either side of him, wind was good and I had hills to cover me as I made my approach . Got within 40 yards of him before he heard me in the super dry grass and stood up. I got three shots off at him in 30 seconds. Shot under the dern thing each time. They aren't like whitetails , they don't try to jump the string. This one never moved til the arrow hit the dirt near him. I was pretty miffed at the missed opportunity but I had to laugh, or cry . Had a great time and now have an open invite to chase prongs with a bow on a ranch thats 4 miles wide and 14 miles long. Can't beat that . We ended up on a private ranch but when we left we planned on hunting public ground. Turned out pretty good even though there was no blood let.
