been trying to come up with a way to buy my grandmothers woods, where i've hunted for over 20yrs now. without much luck. well today my dad handed me the key to gate and said it would all be in my name by end of week ! I WAS IN TEARS!!! i would have never ask him to do anything like this. no matter how bad i wanted it . he said to consider it part of my inheritance when he was gone....... "witch i hope will be a long time away" i hope my boys feel this way when i give it to them one day. I LOVE YOU DAD!!!
John, is that on the road that is just north of Bobtown to the left ? Comes out over on 400East to the West ? I'm familiar with the area having lived around there for a long time. Pete Bode lives on the road if it's the one I'm thinking of. Congrats on you early inheritance. Should be some good hunting out there.

i killed 3 deer off it last year. and both my boys took one there also. it's the first woods on the right after you pass bode. only 20 acers , but the best 20 in all the surrounding 400+ acers that connectes to it. white creek slices through the big woods making a natural funnel right to me. see lots of deer and some real big ones some times . CAN'T WAIT TO LET ONE MEET MY OSAGE...........HEE HEE HEE!!!!!
Now that you're the landowner, it means no buying licenses to hunt there. That's a deal of money saved when you factor in 3 tags bought. I went to school with Pete(real name Don), and he's a fine fellow. I'd bet if you introduced yourself , he'd be receptable to hunting there. Can't say for sure but it would not hurt to bring up the subject.At the minimum let him know you will be hunting and get permission to pursue shot game onto his place. BTW, I've seen hedge growing along White Creek in other places in Hamilton Twp.The creek goes thru several old German farms above you and they brought most of the osage into this part of the world. Keep a sharp eye.

Congratulations...recently became a landowner myself. Was able to buy 20 acres of my in-laws place along with their house in Switzerland Co., God rest their soles. Was able to work out a deal for exclusive access to the rest of the 115 acres they owned. Seems strange knowing that I'm tromping around on land that I own, something I've never experienced before.
